Ever just have one of those days? You know the kind. One annoying little thing after another piles up until you just want to crawl back into bed and start over. You can feel the tension start to build in your neck and shoulders with each added irritation. Yeah, that was me today. Well luckily, there's a yoga pose for that!
Since I'm feeling the effects of a not so great couple of days, I thought I'd share another of my favorite yoga poses for stress relief. In a dream world we would all have access to weekly massages to work out the kinks from our busy lives. Unfortunately, finding time and money for that level of self care is not the norm for most of us! Incorporating a daily yoga and meditation practice into your wellness and healthy living routine is an easy, cost free alternative. Yoga is a great way to release all that nasty tension that builds up in our shoulders and necks over time, whether from working out, too much time at a desk or stress.
This pose incorporates the use of yoga blocks. If you don't have a particular yoga prop, don't let that deter you from practicing the pose! Get creative! You can use a stack of books, a sturdy shoe box, pretty much anything that allows you to elevate your arms. If you are interested in a yoga routine for beginners, check out the December archives for a series of stress relieving yoga poses perfect for beginners or yogis of all levels! Day one of the series starts here: 12-days-of-yoga.html Enjoy!
