Hard to believe it's the first day of July already! With a new month comes the opportunity to set new goals for yourself. Let go of whatever this year has had in store for you so far and start fresh today! Whether that goal is cleaning up your diet, getting started on a new fitness program or maybe even just making time for yourself-I'm here to tell you the time is now!
One way I like to keep myself accountable for my fitness goals is by using a workout log. I have a simple version to share with you today that can help get you ready to tackle this month!
Logging my workouts is an easy way to stay focused on my goals and also allows me to track my progress. I started with a running log to track my miles while training for my first half marathon. I then transitioned to a general workout log as I diversified my training post-race. I quickly learned it was easy to lose track of (and overestimate!) how many days I was actually working out when I didn’t track it. The Type-A in me hates seeing all the blank spaces at the end of the month so it motivates me to find time for a workout no matter how busy I tell myself I am.
There are plenty of online logs, fitness trackers and so on but I’ll always love the simple act of writing my accomplishments down with pen on paper. I like to keep my old logs so I can look back and see how my training has changed over time, identify areas I need to improve or may be over-training. Looking back at how far you've come can be a great motivator!
How do you keep track of your workouts? Are you digital or old school? Let's talk!
Here is the basic exercise log I use. Hope you find it as functional as I do!
