Hi! So glad you stumbled across my little corner of the internet! Here's a little about me. I’m Erica, a fitness loving wife and mom of 3. I have two handsome sports loving sons, Alex (13) and Ben (10) and one sweet daughter and budding gymnast, Kate (5). My husband and I have been together for 20 years and will celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary this year. I was an elementary school teacher in my pre-motherhood days and am currently going into my 13th (!) year as a stay-at-home mom. Most days you’ll find me in yoga pants shuttling kids from one place to another, trying to squeeze in a workout when I can and spending way too much time at the grocery store. Some days I’m the zen-ed out yoga mom with it all pulled together; other days I’m the crazy soccer mom yelling at the ref from the sidelines. (Is calling offsides really that hard?!). It’s all about balance. Food, fitness, parenting. All of it.
I recently decided to combine my passion for fitness with my love of teaching and enter the world of blogging. I am a lifelong runner, yoga lover and newbie lifter. Running was my first passion and now I get to share it with my cross country and track running teen just like my dad did with me. My dad was always there to cheer me on, push me to be my best and pick me up (literally) when I fell. If I can create a few of those same wonderful memories with my kids I’ll be one happy mama. I fell out of my running habit for a few years but couldn’t stay away long! I’ve run too many 5K’s to count, 2 half marathons (with another scheduled for fall) and everything in between. Road races led to my next hobby….obstacle course racing.
I began running Spartan Races with my husband in 2014 and now I’m hooked! Knowing I have an obstacle course race (OCR) coming is great motivation to keep on track with my mileage and strength training regimen. You never know what obstacles will await you (kinda like life, right?!) so you have to be prepared for anything. We both completed our first Spartan Trifecta last year. The Spartan Trifecta is one Sprint distance race (3+ miles, 20+ obstacles), one Super (8+miles, 24+ obstacles), and one Beast (12+ miles, 30+ obstacles ). Training for that kind of challenge will definitely keep you motivated not to miss a workout! This year we’ll be working hard to achieve double trifectas and earn our 2X trifecta medals! OCR training introduced me to my newest love, strength training. Lifting is my time to kill stress and feel like a mommy beast (to use the words of my 4 year old!).
I began practicing yoga almost 20 years ago and started a devoted daily practice after my 3rd child was born. Yoga definitely changed me for the better physically, mentally and spiritually. Yoga can be credited for reigniting my passion for working out and for teaching me it’s ok to take a little time for myself once in a while. Yoga is my refuge, my calm, my quiet place. What busy mom can’t use a little of that? I love teaching yoga and sharing the positive impact it has had on my life with others.
My goal for this blog is to inspire other moms (and non-moms too!) to live their fittest, happiest, most balanced lives, whatever that might look like. You’ll find workouts, yoga, healthy living tips and the occasional recipe. I hope you’ll join me on this journey!
