day 12: Savasana
Here we are, the final day. We finish up as we do any yoga class, in Savasana. Savasana is also known as corpse pose. This pose is when your body and mind can process all of the benefits of your yoga practice. It is harder than you may think to stay in stillness and keep your mind from wandering!
I hope these poses have brought you peace and joy during the sometimes hectic, stressful and busy days leading up to the Christmas holiday.
They are my gift to you going into the new year! I hope that you will come back to them when you need a moment of rest and relaxation in your day. Pick one, a few, or put them all together into a flow.
Sending love and light to you and yours!
Lie comfortably on your back with your legs straight and arms at your sides. Allow the hands to rest about six inches away from your body with your palms up. Let your feet drop open. Close your eyes. Breathe naturally. Allow your body to feel heavy. Relax fully. Relax the face, eyes, jaw line. Release the tongue from the roof of the mouth. Continue to work down the body, releasing tension from each space.
Stay in Savasana for a minimum of 5 minutes.
To release the pose, first begin to deepen your breath. Bringing gentle awareness back to your body, wiggling your fingers and toes. Roll to your right side. When you are ready, gently press yourself into a comfortable seated position. Let your head be the last to rise.
